Miraterra, a J.J. Louro Group company specializing in public works and urban regeneration, was responsible for carrying out the expansion and refurbishment of the Fernando Cunha Municipal Swimming Pools in Torres Novas, in an investment of over €1.6 million.
The project involved the comprehensive renovation of the complex, including the outdoor swimming pools, indoor changing rooms, common areas, administrative spaces, and the technical area housing the plant and machinery.
The works modernized and enhanced the different areas, improving the overall conditions of use, functionality, safety, and efficiency of the complex. In the outdoor area, the former diving pool was replaced by a new pool, while a new general-purpose swimming pool was created, including a dedicated area for children and babies. A suspended deck measuring approximately 465 m² was also installed.
The former plant room next to the Almonda River was converted into a bar/café serving the swimming pool complex, while the landscaped areas and the river surroundings were also renovated. The project also incorporated greater efficiency and sustainability solutions, including the reuse of water from the balance tanks for irrigating municipal green spaces.
Through this project, Miraterra contributes to the enhancement and modernization of one of Torres Novas’ landmark public facilities, further strengthening its ability to deliver technically demanding projects with a significant impact on the local community.
