As part of EB1/JI Amiais de Cima’s “Local Personalities” project, around half a hundred kindergarten and primary school pupils visited the headquarters of the J.J. Louro Group over the last two months.
The local personality chosen by the school was Commander Joaquim José Louro Pereira, founder of the J.J. Louro Group and responsible for setting up the Centro Social Paroquial de Santa Margarida de Abrã (CSPSMA), a Private Social Solidarity Institution with various services such as a kindergarten, ATL, Social Shop and the Semear Afetos project (support for the elderly).
The students had the opportunity to learn about Mr Comendador’s story, with a reading session of the illustrated book “O menino que tinha um coração de sol” (The boy with a heart of sunshine), dedicated to him and launched in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of CSPSMA’s first social service, the Mãe Celeste kindergarten.
As well as the man, there was also an opportunity to get to know his work, with a visit to the J.J. Louro upholstery and sewing unit and showroom in Amiais de Cima.
Accompanied by the school’s coordinator, a teacher and an assistant, the students were received by the Human Resources Development Department on two separate occasions, the kindergarten in May and the primary school in June.
